rod holder on Gulf State Park Pier

I heard that the pier will open on July 23rd. Good news! Are rod holders allowed on the Gulf State Park Pier? If yes, what kind do you reccommend and where can I get some.

I haven't heard. I know a lot of folks use to tie down their rods with bungy straps. Maybe Pier #'r will have an anwer for us.

I have not heard the issue of rodholders discussed yet.
Note there will be a "one rod in use per angler" rule in effect.
So I don't know how that might affect anyone wanting to put up a rodholder or a bungee strap on the rail.

I talked to the official who was checking passes as you came on the pier if it was ok to put up road holders. He said they did not want anyone attaching anything to the rails. I asked him about bonge cords to hold a pvc pipe to the rail. He said, "that's a good question, I have never been asked that question before." Hard to believe they are not going to let us do that.

Thanks for the replies on the rod holder issue. At the time of the original post, I hadn't heard of the one Rod rule. It seems sort of harsh, but everything I've heard since the opening has been good. I hope the good fish stories are true. I'll be there the week of sept 12th-19th an look forward to some pier fishing. Find the guy that looks like he doesn't know what he's doing and help me!!!

it ought to be good by then. been kinda slow lately. Bluefish have moved out finally. Kings should be startin' to move good by mid Sept.

I was down at the pier a couple weeks ago and say a couple kings caught. Also saw a couple Spanish caught, Several Blues caught. Live bait was working best. I will be down the last of the month for a week. Looking forward to it
