Gulf State Park Weir

Saw three big black drum caught at the weir this evening. Didn't know they were in there. The last one I saw caught had to way 20-25#. I was amazed. Didn't have my camera with me, but I will tomorrow.

Is that something like the pier????

the wier is the actual name of the little bridge on the state park road.

Caught this there this morning.

Very nice catch, it looks bigger not in the cooler.

They are really alot of fun when they are about his size.

seriously, a guy caught one that size Friday evening over in the state park.

I believe the Drum DOA is holding was the one we weighed in for the ADSFR 44lbs I think is what it weighed.

Check these guys out. We caught them for the ADSFR two years ago!!!!! Nothing like catching a 40lb bream on 15 lb line.

We will have to get after some in a few months.

This is one I caught a month before the ADSFR in 07 and we estimate its weight at 60lbs and released it may have been a new state record but I hated to kill it and it be for nothing.

We were fishing for croakers for bait when I caught this joker 15# berkley big game 1/4 oz sinker and a #8 plain jane eagle claw hook

What would the age of a fish like that be?

Imho, those drum 3#-6# are THE best eating around (better than sheepshead even ;-)

agreed on that #'r. My wife and I have been eating well the past couple of nights. Got to add a pomp to the menu, though.

I am the one that took the pic of the monster. It was 4 ft. at least. It was the biggest I have seen so far.
What was funny is that he thought he had hooked a huge ray and set the rod in a holder for a little while to help DP land a red. After about 5 or 10 he picked the rod back up to real in the ray and it ended up being the drum.

Where can you go to have a chance to catch something like those?

I've been finding black drum on the beach regularly, just not that size.
